Musical Theatre

Over his career as a teacher, and before as a Student, Daniel has been fortunate enough to be involved as part of the creative team for several shows.

In recent years, he has been the Musical Director at Folkestone and Hythe Operatic and Dramatic society and has produced several youth productions: Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar to name a few.

He has also been fortunate enough to MD several adult productions at the Tower Theatre, Folkestone. These have included FHODs Summer shows Evita and Oliver and more recently, Steven Sondheim's Company.

Daniel tries to encourage performance from the first moment of starting rehearsals and believes that the key to a strong performance is not only good technique and understanding of the music, but self-interpretation. Often performers listen to recordings and watch videos of characters instead of exploring the motivation behind a character and why the music supports the performance. This is not to say that watching how other people perform and interpret a character is pointless, but more to remind performers to think for themselves.

He has also been fortunate enough to run two adult productions at the Tower Theatre; FHODs Summer shows in recent years, Evita and Oliver! - both of which were a rousing success!!
